Air cons, the Telair Silent Plus 8100H is born: optimized diffuser, new remote control and gas with low environmental impact

June 26, 2021 – Telair, a Teleco Group company, continues to improve its range of air conditioners for motorhomes and caravans. This time it is the Silent range that is of interest, whose 8400H and 7400H models are now being replaced by the Silent Plus 8100HIt is a version whose cooling power is considerable (8,100 BTU), equipped with a heat pump for heating (8,000 BTU) and with two substantial improvements compared to its predecessors: a new compact, slim and elegant diffuser, and an evolved remote control, more practical and intuitive. Plus, the confirmation of the use of a refrigerant gas with a particularly low environmental impact.

From a technical point of view, we are faced with a product that guarantees a remarkable air handling capacity (450 cubic meters per hour) with a power consumption limited to 1,050 Watts. The temperature can be set in a window ranging from 6 to 31 Celsius degrees, while the fan speed can be chosen from 3 different levels. The Silent Plus 8100H has a weight of 35 kilograms and requires a hole of 40 by 40 centimeters for installation, the same as that of the standard rooflight.

A practical and compact diffuser

From a visual point of view, the element that most stands out from the past is the internal diffuser. Born from the experience gained in the development of the clima e-Van models (here you can read our test of the 5400H), this component is more compact and offers better management of forced ventilation. A backlit display shows the internal temperature and the main operating parameters, while a double strip of blue LEDs can be used as a night light.

The new square diffuser measures only 45 centimeters per side (the previous one was 51×52.5 cm) and has a thickness that has dropped from 6.2 to 4.2 centimeters. In addition, the size is further reduced on the two external sides up to no more than a couple of centimeters, and this favors the placement in the passenger compartment corridor without risking hindering the opening of wall units, the wardrobe door or cell door.

Even with the new diffuser, we have retained the ability to wash the filters very quickly,” says Raul Fabbri, one of the two founders and owners of Teleco and Telair. “And we added the ventilation function, very useful when you just want to circulate the air at room temperature in the passenger compartment. The new remote control is aesthetically more modern, has a larger display and has two ‘fast’ buttons for selecting the cold or hot function that are used to quickly bring the passenger compartment up to temperature. In addition, there is the lighting function where the LED turns into a powerful torch, to be used at night, in case of need, without disturbing the rest of the crew”.

A more environmentally conscious solution

But in addition to the ergonomic aspects, Teleco also paid attention to the environmental impact. The Telair Silent Plus 8100H in fact uses R32 refrigerant gas, a choice that the company has strongly wanted since 2020 for all its air conditioners. This R32 gas has in fact an ozone depletion potential (ODP) value equal to zero and a GWP (Global Warming Potential) index which is about half that of R407C gas, with a reduction of about 70% of the potential environmental pollution.

This step, which is perfectly in line with our corporate philosophy of reducing environmental impact, that is by adopting solutions that improve the eco-sustainability of our products, was not so simple,” concludes Fabbri. “R32 is a gas that works at a higher pressure and therefore we had to adapt all the systems with larger pipes and fittings, and we had to subject this technical update to a long series of tests. Now, in the event of a gas leak, we pollute less than half compared to R407C gas, which is still used by some air conditioners manufacturers, even in the RV sector”.
