The big day has arrived

June 4, 2019 – Today is the big day. There are still many things to do. Ready, go: immediately after breakfast, the aqueduct operator arrives to unplug the meter, then we have to clean the bathroom of the house we are leaving, the last things are to be brought into the box (but how many are there? They never finish!), the modem must be disconnected for the final farewell to Fastweb, we must empty the toilet cistern before leaving, fill up the motorhome with water. The idea is to move to Dormelletto, on Maggiore Lake, to spend two days in peace, before returning to Arese on Friday, when we have some errands to run: the bar is waiting for us on Saturday.

Paolo has a telephone interview at 2.00 pm, so at that time we must already be settled. We would have liked to go to Camping Sport Magenta first to get a mosquito net for the entrance door to the cell: with a couple of heated days they has begun to bite, the mosquitoes have arrived and above all Yoda tends to want to “escape”: with the mosquito net we hope to limit his impulses. Unfortunately, there is not enough time: we postpone the return.

The other idea that has been around for some time is to weigh Falkor: we constantly read about campers who are surely overweight and about the risks involved in the event of an inspection or an accident. For a holiday vehicle, you can also think of taking some risks, but if that vehicle is your home, caution is never too much. Google searches related to public weighs do not lead to great results, at least not in our area. A friend tells us that he should have one in Caronno Pertusella. We decide a small detour, we lose about 20 minutes, and the result is the same as at other times in the past: the public weighs seems closed and abandoned.

At 1.00 pm we reached the goal. Just enough time to settle in a wonderful shady parking lot and it’s already time for an interview. At 3.00 pm, finally, the dream comes true: table and chairs outside, facing the lake, blue sky and fresh air. It is from here that we write these notes, and only now it seems to us that the new life has really begun.
