Two converging stories

January 2, 2018 – As the first posts they are probably not very interesting, but since we have decided to start from the beginning, let’s start by explaining who we are and how we got here. My name is Paolo, I am 53 years old, and I currently love to define myself as an entrepreneur. My professional life is completely absorbed in running a bar, which I started about two and a half years ago with a partner. This place is the culmination of a history full of successes and big thuds. I started working first as an insurance salesman, then as a photographer and finally as a contributor to IT newspapers. In the latter area, I developed a career as an employee, which culminated in management roles in two multinational publishing houses and ended with a sudden dismissal, following a crisis, due to corporate restructuring.

Professional life 1.1, which began in 2007, saw the birth of a company I created and dedicated to electronic publishing. After a few years of activity without infamy and without praise, I involved a friend whose job was at risk and together we threw ourselves into local information. We got great moral satisfactions, but no economic ones and so, forced by the events, I started to collaborate again with other companies as well.

In 2015 a turning point (2.0!): The opportunity to reopen a local bar in the historic center of Arese, near Milan. Done (and redone, and redone again…) the math, we decided to throw ourselves and in May we inaugurated the QuiArese TechCafé: a place that wanted to be a meeting point for citizens where they can compare and discuss everything that happens locally, combining in tangible way the local information made through the Quiarese.it site to citizens. The adventure was very, very tiring and luckily it did not fail, but it completely absorbed us. Too much.

From the point of view of personal life, however, I have been married for a long time to Claudia, with whom I had two wonderful children: Mara and Francesco, both grown up today. Love life doesn’t always go as hoped, and in 2009 our adventure together ended and I went to live alone.

Maria Luisa, known as Marilù, has an unspoken age (but she always seems much younger than she is…) and soon began working at an advertising agency. After a few years, she moved to an international publishing house as an editorial secretary and in the field she earned her journalist’s degrees, specializing in technology. By personal choice, she quit her job as an employee in 2003, deciding to be an external contributor. Despite a market that is increasingly in crisis, she still have important customers today.

When she was very young, she had a splendid daughter with Donato, Alessandra, now grown up. Despite their marriage, their cohabitation ended in 2005 and Marilù also started an independent life. In recent years our lives have met, and since 2013 we have decided to crown our love story by living together. After the common labors of launching the bar, now we make room for new dreams.
